Syspro named Leader in Nucleus SMB ERP value matrix

Wed, 10th Jun 2026 (Today)

Syspro has been named a Leader in the 2026 SMB ERP Technology Value Matrix from Nucleus Research, up from its previous Expert position.

Nucleus Research attributed the change to improvements in functional depth and usability, highlighting the software provider's work in artificial intelligence, workflow automation and manufacturing execution tools for mid-sized manufacturers and distributors.

The assessment places Syspro among enterprise resource planning vendors serving the small and medium-sized business market, where suppliers are under pressure to show clear returns for customers facing supply chain disruption, cost pressure and more complex production environments.

Recent product changes contributed to the higher ranking, according to Syspro. These include the Sidekick AI Knowledge Assistant, broader document and transaction automation, Power Tailoring for customisation, a web-based reporting service and digital payment tools.

The software is designed to support end-to-end business processes in manufacturing and distribution. Nucleus Research also pointed to support for cloud, privately hosted and on-premises deployment models.

Product changes

Additions highlighted in the review included AI-assisted invoice processing, document extraction and automated purchase order-to-sales order workflows. Syspro said these functions are intended to reduce manual work and improve transaction accuracy.

Its Sidekick AI Knowledge Assistant is embedded in ERP workflows and is designed to help users access guidance and information in context. Syspro added that its reporting service is intended to simplify report development while improving maintenance over time.

Another feature singled out was Power Tailoring, which extends Syspro's software framework through C# scripting. The company said this allows customers to make custom changes while remaining compatible with future upgrades.

Digital payments also formed part of the review. Syspro said the additions support real-time payment processing and collections workflows for finance operations.

Acquisition effect

Nucleus Research also linked Syspro's stronger position to acquisitions that expanded its manufacturing execution and warehouse management offering. The deals involved riteSOFT, NexSys, DATASCOPE and Evocon.

According to the analyst firm, those acquisitions added warehouse mobility, real-time production monitoring, shop floor automation and traceability. These functions are intended to improve visibility across manufacturing and distribution operations.

The latest ranking suggests specialist ERP suppliers can still gain ground in a market often dominated by larger software groups, particularly when they focus on industry-specific processes rather than broader horizontal offerings.

Manufacturers and distributors have become a key battleground for ERP vendors as businesses seek closer control over inventory, production, warehousing and fulfilment. Demand has also grown for software that can automate routine administrative tasks without requiring large-scale replacement of existing systems.

For mid-market customers, usability has become as important as breadth of function as companies try to improve adoption among staff on factory floors, in warehouses and in back-office teams. Analyst rankings increasingly weigh that balance alongside traditional measures such as coverage of core finance, supply chain and production processes.

Leanne Taylor, Chief Executive Officer at Syspro, said the company's change in standing reflected where it had directed investment. "Moving from Expert to Leader in a single year reflects the investments we have made in the right places. Manufacturers and distributors need an ERP that thinks alongside them, not just records what they have done. Leader status confirms that Syspro delivers both the manufacturing depth our customers need and the usability that drives real adoption and results."

She added: "We have continued to invest in capabilities that put intelligence where the work happens, inside the workflows our customers rely on every day."

Charles Brennan, Principal Analyst at Nucleus Research, linked the change to measurable product development and sector demands. "Syspro's advancement to Leader in the 2026 SMB ERP Technology Value Matrix reflects measurable improvement across both functional depth and usability. The manufacturing and distribution sectors continue to face increasing operational complexity and competitive pressure. Syspro's investments in embedded AI, workflow automation, and manufacturing execution capabilities strengthen its ability to support operational performance, efficiency, and growth for mid-sized manufacturers and distributors."
