Indigo Telecom hires Ilex to drive global growth push

Wed, 18th Mar 2026

Indigo Telecom Group has appointed Ilex Content Strategies as its marketing and communications agency of record, adding a specialist technology and telecoms consultancy to support external and internal communications as the infrastructure services provider targets further international expansion.

The agreement covers brand and messaging development, content creation, internal communications, account-based marketing, sales enablement and international media relations. Ilex will apply its Borderless PR model, which it says is designed to keep messaging consistent across markets without relying on multiple local agencies.

Indigo operates as an operations partner for digital infrastructure companies. Its customers include hyperscalers, subsea network operators, data centre providers, carriers, and fixed and mobile network providers. It supports infrastructure programmes across the lifecycle, from design and deployment to support and scaling.

As networks and data centre footprints become more distributed, digital infrastructure operators have increased their focus on consistent global delivery. Many providers also face greater public scrutiny over outages, physical security and operational resilience. These pressures have raised the importance of how suppliers describe service models, incident response and governance, particularly in competitive procurement cycles.

Indigo describes its operating model as unified across its international footprint, providing consistency and control across operations. It reports a network of more than 3,500 engineers operating in more than 90 countries.

Operational footprint

Indigo runs 24/7 Network and Security Operations Centres and a global service desk. It reports managing more than 30,000 incidents annually, using defined ownership and escalation processes for incident handling.

Founded in 1998, Indigo works with Ilex, which was founded in 2012 and supports telecoms, cloud, cybersecurity, data centre, and digital infrastructure organisations. The agency describes its work as focused on periods of growth, repositioning and market expansion.

Ilex's client list includes du, Zain Omantel, and Telefonica. The agency also cites activity across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas, positioning itself as a B2B marketing and communications consultancy that combines strategic consultancy with content and media services.

The appointment gives Indigo a single agency partner for messaging, media relations and marketing support across priority regions. It also reflects a broader push by telecoms and infrastructure services firms to align communications more closely with sales activity and account-based marketing programmes, particularly when selling to global operators with long procurement cycles.

Michel Robert, Chief Executive Officer at Indigo, said the company wanted its communications to reflect its delivery approach as it expands.

"Indigo has a proven model for delivering critical infrastructure right first time and at scale. As we accelerate our global growth, it's essential that our story reflects the quality, maturity and operational excellence our customers experience every day."

Robert said Indigo expects the relationship to sharpen its positioning. "Ilex understands complex, technical businesses and how to position them with clarity and confidence. Together, we will sharpen our messaging, strengthen our brand presence, and ensure Indigo is recognised not just for what we do, but for the strategic value we bring to hyperscalers, carriers and digital infrastructure leaders worldwide."

Agency remit

Ilex will work with Indigo's leadership team on a brand and messaging refresh, international media relations, and support for account-based marketing and sales enablement. The companies have not disclosed the contract length or financial terms.

Lucia Barbato, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder at Ilex Content Strategies, said communicating the sector effectively requires specialist knowledge: "Indigo Telecom plays an important role in the global digital infrastructure landscape, and communicating the scale and complexity of that work requires deep sector understanding."

Barbato said the agency will focus on strengthening Indigo's market positioning and international momentum: "We're proud to have been selected as Indigo's agency of record and look forward to helping the business strengthen its market position, support sales and build momentum internationally."

Ilex Managing Director Matthew Whalley was recently named in the PRWeek Power Book Middle East. The agency said the recognition reflects its regional profile as it works with global telecoms brands.

Indigo's customers include hyperscalers and subsea cable operators, as well as mobile operators and other network infrastructure providers. It says it provides SLA-driven execution across key global markets through its engineering network and operations centres, and that the agency appointment supports its wider global growth plans.
