Ecovacs brings roller mopping to UK & Ireland stores

ECOVACS is bringing its OZMO ROLLER 3.0 mopping technology to physical retail stores across the UK and Ireland, with a rollout at AO, Argos and Marks Electrical.
The expansion includes the DEEBOT X12S OmniCyclone and follows earlier online availability of ECOVACS robot cleaning models in both markets. It gives shoppers a chance to see roller-based mopping systems in stores as manufacturers look beyond more established dual-pad designs.
Roller mopping now accounts for 56% of ECOVACS unit sales in Europe, according to the company's analysis of GfK sales data for the first seven months of the year. ECOVACS is using that demand trend to support a broader retail push in Britain and Ireland, where interest in robot vacuum cleaners has also grown.
Its analysis of Google Trends data shows online searches for "best robot vacuum" rose 129% in the UK and 243% in Ireland over the past year. That suggests buyers are spending more time researching the category as product designs become more varied.
Changing designs
Robot mop makers have traditionally relied on two rotating pads to clean hard floors. ECOVACS argues that this approach can spread dirt during cleaning, while its roller system uses a continuously rotating mechanism that cleans itself during use.
ECOVACS says the OZMO ROLLER 3.0 system is designed to stop wastewater returning to the floor. It also pairs the roller with FocusJet Technology, aimed at removing more stubborn dirt and stains.
The move into stores reflects a broader shift in the robot cleaning market, as manufacturers try to stand out through cleaning methods rather than basic vacuum-and-mop combinations. As more brands compete for attention, the way a machine scrubs, rinses and manages dirty water is becoming part of the sales pitch.
Physical retail may play a particular role in that shift because technical features are often easier to explain in person than online. In-store displays and demonstrations can show how one cleaning system differs from another, especially in a category where many products look similar at first glance.
"Consumers are becoming more interested in how a robot actually cleans, rather than simply whether it can vacuum and mop. That's creating more interest in the technology underneath these products and why new techniques, such as roller mopping, can make a difference," said Graham Mitchell, Sales Manager UK & Ireland, ECOVACS.
Broader market
The UK and Ireland retail expansion comes as home robotics groups try to widen their product ranges beyond floor cleaning. ECOVACS has built its business around robotic vacuum cleaners but has also moved into window cleaning, lawn care and pool cleaning.
That broader push reflects a market in which manufacturers are seeking growth across multiple household tasks while using the same core robotics and navigation expertise. For retailers, adding more advanced floor-cleaning machines can help position robot cleaning as a specialist category rather than a simple domestic appliance purchase.
Founded in 2006, ECOVACS says its products now reach nearly 180 major markets and serve more than 38 million households globally. It also says it has ranked first in China's robotic vacuum cleaner market by share for 10 consecutive years.
In the UK and Ireland, the store rollout gives the group a more visible presence at a time when competition in robot cleaning is intensifying and consumers are comparing not just price and brand, but also how machines handle dirt, stains and floor care. Roller-based systems are becoming a more prominent alternative to dual-disc mopping in that contest, according to the company.
